An Introduction to Career Opportunities in the Profession of Pharmacy and Opportunities in Pharmacy Education at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS)
What is Pharmacy Summer Camp?
The UAMS College of Pharmacy Summer Camp Program is designed for high school rising juniors and seniors interested in learning more about the challenging career pathway opportunities in the profession of pharmacy. This unique camp incorporates active participation in a broad scope of learning experiences including "hands-on" training in pharmacy practice skills, lectures by College of Pharmacy faculty and local Arkansas pharmacist practitioners, and field trips to actual pharmacy practice locations. The camp program reviews pharmacy education opportunities and the pharmacy curriculum at UAMS as well as recommended high school preparatory and collegiate pre-pharmacy course work.
Pharmacy Summer Camp Tuition & Fees: Camp tuition is $400.00 and includes housing, all meals, camp instruction materials, laboratory exercise supplies, and field trip transportation expenses.
Application Process:
- Pharmacy camp applications are no longer being accepted for the 2012 cycle. Online applications for Summer 2013 Pharmacy Camp will be available in November.
- Application (submitted online ONLY), official transcript, two sealed letters of recommendation and $100 deposit.
- The letters of recommendation must be from a science or math teacher, and a counselor/advisor.
2012 Camp applicants will be notified on or before Friday, March 16, 2012 of their admission status. The application deposit in full will be returned to unsuccessful applicants not later than Friday, March 30, 2012. Accepted students must have health insurance coverage and proof of such insurance must be provided to the UAMS College of Pharmacy prior to Friday, April 29, 2012.
The UAMS College of Pharmacy reserves the right to cancel the pharmacy camp and return all fees in the event of insufficient participant registration or for other compelling and unforeseen circumstances of good cause.
Financial Aid: A limited number of stipends are available to those requiring tuition assistance.
