The UAMS College of Pharmacy Summer Camp Program is designed for high school rising seniors and recently graduated high school students entering college interested in learning more about the challenging career pathway opportunities in the profession of pharmacy.  This unique camp incorporates active participation in a broad scope of learning experiences including “hands-on” training in pharmacy practice skills, lectures by College of Pharmacy faculty and local Arkansas pharmacist practitioners, and field trips to actual pharmacy practice locations.  The camp program reviews pharmacy education opportunities and the pharmacy curriculum at UAMS as well as recommended high school preparatory and collegiate pre-pharmacy course work.

Pharmacy Summer Camp Tuition & Fees: 

Camp tuition is $400.00 and includes housing, all meals, camp instruction materials, laboratory exercise supplies, and field trip transportation and expenses.

Application Process:  

  • Students currently in their junior and senior year of high school are eligible to apply.
  • Applications for Summer 2014 Pharmacy Camp are now available.

  • Application, official transcript, ACT scores, two sealed letters of recommendation and $100 deposit must be postmarked no later than Friday, February 7, 2014.
  • The letters of recommendation must be from a science or math teacher and a counselor.
  • Applications (unless completed online), reference letters, ACT scores, deposit, and transcript should be mailed to:

Camp applicants will be notified on or before Friday, March 14, 2014 of their admission status. The application deposit will be returned to all applicants that are not selected no later than Friday, March 28, 2014. Accepted applicants must have the remaining balance paid in full and proof of health insurance coverage submitted to the UAMS College of Pharmacy by Friday, May 23, 2014.

The UAMS College of Pharmacy reserves the right to cancel the pharmacy camp and return all fees in the event of insufficient participant registration or for other compelling and unforeseen circumstances of good cause.

Financial Aid:

A limited number of stipends are available to those requiring tuition assistance. Students must submit a statement explaining why tuition assistance is being requested with his/her application.

Eddie Dunn, PharmD & Melanie Reinhardt, PharmD, Department of Pharmacy Practice and other College of Pharmacy faculty members, pharmacist practitioners, and current UAMS College of Pharmacy students representing a broad range of career experience in the pharmacy profession
