Research & Scholarly Interests

Aging is considered to be an unregulated developmental process results because of accumulation of changes in both cellular and physiological processes. Stem cell exhaustion i.e. impairment of Adult Stem Cells (ASCs) homeostasis is one of the fundamental hallmark of aging. The fate of ASCs is governed by their cross talk with the microenvironment, or niche. Using the 3D ex-vivo organoid culture system and various animal models I intend to 1) understand the underlying basis of human aging and cell death and 2) to develop interventions which may enhance the life span and delay the aging process.
