  • Dr. Shao received his MD & Ph.D degree in Basic Science from Nanchang University, Jiangxi, China, postdoctoral training in Hematopoietic Stem Cells and Radiation Biology from Maine Medical Center Research Institute (MMCRI) and Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), USA
  • Dr. Shao is a Research Instructor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), member of the Division of Radiation Health in the College of Pharmacy.
  • Dr. Shao’s research focuses on radiation and chemotherapy induced long term hematopoietic stem cell injury and on understanding the molecular mechanisms of residual stem cell damage after exposure to radiation. His current research goal is to development of medical countermeasures against radiation-induced hematopoietic injury in cancer patients and explores the molecular basis of radiation protection.
  • Dr. Shao has published more than 30 peer reviewed scientific articles and book chapters.
