Center investigators are striving for a nationally recognized, extramurally funded program with a dual focus on developing generalizable knowledge from research and conducting demonstration projects in high priority implementation areas. The Center is grounded in the principles of community-based participatory research, with “community” being broadly defined. Projects will be developed and enacted in partnership with multiple stakeholders– e.g., patients, healthcare practitioners, healthcare managers, payers, and/or policy makers. The mix of partners will vary by scope and needs of each project. As the Center is comprised of faculty from the COP and the COM, some of the Center’s work will support projects originating separately from each College; however; the Center will strive to develop as many joint projects as possible.
The Center is guided methodologically by an Advisory Panel of three national experts in implementation research design (C. Hendricks Brown, Brian Mittman, Lisa Saldana) and strategically by a Steering Committee comprised of current Directors of implementation research centers and/or initiatives (Enola Proctor, JoAnn Kirchner, Ann Sales, Lori DuCharme).
