Preceptors for Core Experiences
Lisa Hutchison is currently Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She has a secondary appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Geriatrics. She also provides pharmacy consultation services for the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care, a quality improvement organization.
Dr. Hutchison earned her BS pharmacy degree and her PharmD at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis. In 1984, she completed her Clinical Pharmacy Residency at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In 2001, she earned her MPH from the University of South Florida College of Public Health in Tampa, FL. Dr. Hutchison practices clinical pharmacy at the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.
In 1993, she won the Award for Achievement in the Professional Practice of Pharmacy in Organized Health Care Settings from the American Society of Healthsystems Pharmacy for the publication ‘Clinical privileges for pharmacists.’ In 2008, the American Pharmacists Association recognized her with the Distinguished Achievement Award in Hospital and Institutional Practice. A new pharmacy textbook, Fundamentals of Geriatric Pharmacotherapy: An Evidence-Based Approach, published in March, 2010, is edited by Lisa Hutchison and her co-editor, Rebecca Sleeper-Irons.
Melanie Pilcher is currently Assistant Director of Pharmacy, Thomas and Lyon Longevity Clinic at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She provides anticoagulation and medication therapy management services to patients in the clinic. Dr. Pilcher earned her PharmD at the University of the Pacific, and completed a geriatric specialty residency at the UAMS College of Pharmacy.
