The residency experience at UAMS Northwest is designed to provide the resident with broad-based learning experiences with a focus on primary care and provides both inpatient and outpatient clinical practice. Rotations and electives are offered at health care sites throughout Northwest Arkansas including Mercy Medical Center, Northwest Medical Center, Washington Regional Medical Center, and the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks. Teaching opportunities exist within the UAMS Northwest Family Medicine Residency Program and the UAMS College of Pharmacy.

Additional responsibilities/projects throughout the year include:

• Complete medication use evaluation and present at Pharmacy and Therapeutics Meeting
• Revise or write hospital policy as per preceptor’s assignment
• Participate in Antimicrobial Stewardship
• Design and conduct a residency project
• Staffing one weekend per month
• Journal Club Presentations (quarterly)
• Drug Therapy Presentations to Family Medicine Residents (three)
• Publish Drug Bulletin (quarterly)
• Therapeutics Recitation and Supplemental Instruction
• Complete the UAMS College of Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program


Each resident will receive:
