Kroger Pharmacy offers a community pharmacy residency that provides an opportunity to enhance your clinical and professional skills by providing a variety of hands-on wellness and medication therapy management services. Clinical services include employee health screenings, health coaching programs, and medication therapy management. Various routine and travel health immunizations are offered at Kroger Pharmacy locations.
The resident will be involved in teaching opportunities with Kroger Pharmacy’s Patient Care Specialist Team and will interact with other divisional and district members of the pharmacy team. Seasonally, the resident will assist with running off-site flu clinics. During the second half of the residency, the resident will spend one half-day per week in an ambulatory care clinic setting. In addition, they will have the opportunity to precept and teach pharmacy students, conduct a research project, write articles for publication in collaboration with UAMS faculty, and develop and implement new or expanded clinical services.
Kroger Pharmacy is a large supermarket chain that operates 29 pharmacy departments in the state of Arkansas. The Little Rock Kroger Marketing Area is committed to the provision of patient care and the advancement of the profession of pharmacy. Immunizations and medication therapy management are offered at all pharmacies in the state
• Patient Care in the Pharmacy: Deliver high-quality patient care in a variety of areas including disease state education, medication therapy management, wellness screenings, and vaccine services
• Teaching: Educate pharmacists, pharmacy students, and other health professionals in the classroom and in practice. The resident will be required to participate in the Postgraduate Teaching Certificate Program through the UAMS College of Pharmacy. For more details, visit the TCP webpage
• Research and Project Management: Complete a residency project and present findings at the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition. Research classes and seminars will be provided.
• Dispensing and Management: Perform the duties of a manager in the community pharmacy setting while leading the advancement and expansion of community pharmacy practice
